Steps

  1. Clean and soak the dals in water for 30 minutes
  2. Grind the ginger and garlic and apply the paste to the washed pieces of mutton
  3. Quarter the potato
  4. Brinjal and red pumpkin
  5. Chop finely the onion
  6. Mint leaves
  7. Corriander leaves
  8. Fenugreek leaves and green chillies
  9. Heat a tbsp
  10. Of oil
  11. Fry the onion till light brown
  12. Add the mutton
  13. Stir
  14. Add all the above ingredients
  15. Add the dals and a little water
  16. Let it cook till the dal and meat are tender
  17. Remove the meat pieces
  18. Mash the dal
  19. Keep aside
  20. Now prepare the seasoning
  21. For this
  22. Chop the onion and tomatoes finely
  23. Fry onions till golden brown
  24. Add the ground masala
  25. Fry well
  26. Add all the powdered spices
  27. Tomatoes and lastly add the mashed dal
  28. Meat pieces and a little water
  29. Simmer on slow flame till the masalas are well mixed
  30. Before serving
  31. Add the juice of a lemon and a tsp
  32. Of jaggery
  33. Serve the dal with the brown rice
  34. Now prepare the rice
  35. For this
  36. Wash and soak it in water
  37. Slice the onion
  38. Fry it in ghee till light brown
  39. Add cumin and sugar
  40. Fry well till the sugar and onions are fried well
  41. Add the coarsely crushed spices alongwith rice
  42. Fry a little
  43. Add salt and water
  44. Cook
  45. Partially covered
  46. Till the water has evaporated and rice is cooked
