Steps

  1. Firstly
  2. Clean
  3. Wash and soak all the dals in sufficient water for minimum 6 hours
  4. Peel and finely chop onion and garlic
  5. Wash
  6. Remove stem and finely chop green chillies
  7. Next
  8. Wash and finely chop the tomatoes
  9. Do the same for the corriander leaves
  10. Drain soaked dals
  11. Then add 6 cups water and pressure-cook for 30 minutes or until the dals are completely cooked
  12. Mix them well
  13. Using a round ladle
  14. Meanwhile
  15. Heat oil in a pan
  16. Add garlic and stir-fry briefly until golden brown
  17. Add onion and green chillies
  18. Saute for 4-5 minutes or until the onion is golden-brown in colour
  19. Add red chilli and cumin powders and stir-fry briefly
  20. Add tomatoes and cook on high flame for 3-4 minutes
  21. Stirring continuously
  22. Stir in the cooked dals and butter
  23. Mix well
  24. Add salt
  25. Chopped corriander leaves and cook dal for 10 minutes on low flame
  26. Stirring continuously
  27. Then add yogurt and mix well
  28. Crus kasoori methi between the palms
  29. Sprinkle on the dal and serve hot with white basmati rice !
