chocolate chip toffee layered rice pudding


husband's twist on my grandmother's classic stove-top rice pudding. the flavors and textures are quite unusual, but they do this old stand-by plenty of justice! enjoy!

  1. In a large saucepan
  2. Combine the milk
  3. Rice
  4. Brown sugar
  5. Butter
  6. And salt
  7. Bring to a boil over medium heat
  8. Cook for 15 minutes
  9. Or until thick and creamy
  10. Stirring occasionally
  11. Remove pan from heat
  12. Stir in the vanilla
  13. Cool to room temperature
  14. Spoon 1 / 2 the pudding into dessert bowls or sundae glasses
  15. Combine the chocolate chips and toffee bits
  16. Sprinkle 1 / 2 over the pudding
  17. Repeat layers
  18. Refrigerate at until ready to serve
  19. Garnish with a generous dollop of whipped cream
