  1. Preheat oven to 350f
  2. For the batter:
  3. In a medium bowl
  4. Whisk together the flour
  5. Sugar
  6. Cherries
  7. Chips
  8. Cocoa
  9. Baking powder and salt
  10. Mix in the softened butter
  11. The mixture will be crumbly
  12. Add eggs and water and mix until evenly moistened
  13. Use a generous 1 / 4 cup of batter to fill the cups of the muffin pan
  14. For the topping:
  15. In a medium bowl
  16. Whisk together all of the dry ingredients and the extract
  17. Using a fork or your fingers
  18. Cut in the butter to form crumbs
  19. Top the entire surface of each muffin with a generous amount of crumbs
  20. Bake the muffin tops for 16-23 minutes
  21. Until a cake tester inserted in the center of one comes out clean
  22. Cool the tops for 5 minutes in the pan
  23. And then transfer them to a rack to cool completely
  24. "dust with additional glazing or confectioners sugar if desired"
