Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375f
  2. Grease an 8-inch baking pan and line bottom and sides with wax paper
  3. Stir brown sugar
  4. Coconut and flour together
  5. Add butter and mix until well--combined
  6. Firmly press mixture into prepared pan using the back of a tablespoon
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly-brown and slightly-risen
  8. Make caramel during this time
  9. Place butter and golden syrup in a medium saucepan over medium heat
  10. Stirring occasionally
  11. When butter has melted
  12. Add condensed milk
  13. Cook
  14. Stirring constantly
  15. For about 9-12 minutes
  16. Or until caramel thickens
  17. Gently spread caramel evenly over base
  18. Return to oven for a further 10-12 minutes
  19. Allow slice to cool to room temperature
  20. For the chocolate topping: melt chocolate and butter in a small saucepan over very low heat
  21. Whisk well to incorporate butter into chocolate and spread evenly over caramel slice
  22. Refrigerate until chocolate is set
  23. About 30 minutes
  24. Holding onto wax paper
  25. Remove slice from baking pan
  26. Cut into 12 squares
  27. Using a hot
  28. Dry knife
  29. You may have to dip your knife into very hot water before making subsequent cuts
  30. To keep the cuts neat
