Steps

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees f
  2. Grease 13" x 9" pan
  3. In large bowl
  4. Combine cake mix
  5. Butter and 2 / 3 cup of the milk
  6. Mix well
  7. Spread half of batter in greased pan
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes
  9. Meanwhile
  10. In small saucepan
  11. Heat caramels with remaining 1 / 3 cup milk over low heat until melted
  12. Stirring constantly
  13. Remove pan from oven
  14. Sprinkle with 1 cup of the candy-coated baking bits
  15. Drizzle with caramel mixture
  16. Drop remaining batter by heaping teaspoonfuls over caramel mixture
  17. Sprinkle with remaining 2 / 3 cup of candy-coated baking bits
  18. Return to oven
  19. Bake at 350 degrees f for an additional 20-24 minutes or until center is set
  20. Cool 1 hour or until completely cooled
  21. Cut into bars
