for those of us who love cranberries and bars, here's a great looking recipe from the joy of cranberries: that tangy red treat cookbook!

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees f & grease a 13"x9" baking pan
  2. In a heavy saucepan
  3. Heat caramels & 1 / 3 cup of the half & half
  4. Over low heat
  5. Stirring occasionally
  6. Until caramels are melted
  7. Then
  8. Stir until smooth & remove from heat & set aside
  9. In a mixing bowl
  10. Beat cake mix
  11. Remaining 1 / 3 cup half & half
  12. Butter & vanilla until smooth
  13. Pat half of this mixture into bottom of prepared baking pan & bake 10 minutes
  14. Remove from oven & spread evenly with warm caramel mixture
  15. In another bowl
  16. Stir cranberry sauce
  17. Then spoon over caramel layer
  18. Sprinkle remaining cake mixture over cranberry layer
  19. Then top with a sprinkling of pecans
  20. Return to oven & bake another 30 minutes
  21. Cool in pan on wire rack before cutting into bars
