  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  2. Coat a 6-inch round cake pan with baking spray
  3. Combine the flour
  4. Sugar
  5. Cocoa
  6. Baking powder
  7. Baking soda and salt in the bowl of an electric mixer
  8. Beat on low speed until well combined
  9. About 1 minute
  10. With mixer running on medium speed
  11. Add warm water and beat until well blended
  12. Add buttermilk
  13. Egg
  14. Oil and vanilla
  15. And beat on medium for 5 minutes
  16. Scraping down sides of bowl occasionally
  17. Pour batter into the prepared pan
  18. And bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
  19. About 45 minutes
  20. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes
  21. Then unmold and cool completely on the rack
  22. When ready to serve
  23. Place the bittersweet chocolate in a small bowl
  24. Heat the cream in a small saucepan set over medium heat until bubbles form around the edge
  25. Immediately pour over chocolate
  26. Let sit for 1 minute
  27. Then stir until smooth and well blended
  28. Pour over cooled cake and spread to evenly coat top
  29. Let set
  30. About 10 minutes
  31. And serve
