chocolate butter cream bars


this is a recipe my dd wants me to make this christmas for her. it came from a holiday desserts book from land o lakes. there is 2.5 hours chilling time.

  1. Combine 1 / 2 c butter
  2. 1 / 4 powdered sugar and cocoa in 2 qt saucepan
  3. Cook over medium heat
  4. Stirring occasionally
  5. Until butter is melted
  6. Remove from heat
  7. Stir in 2 tsp vanilla
  8. 1 / 4 c half&half
  9. Graham cracker crumbs
  10. Coconut and walnuts
  11. Press mixture into bottom of ungreased 8" square baking pan
  12. Combine remaining 1 / 2 c butter
  13. Remaining 1&3 / 4 c powdered sugar
  14. Remaining 1 tsp vanilla and 2 t half&half in large mixer bowl
  15. Beat at medium speed
  16. Scraping bowl often
  17. Until light and fluffy(2-3 minutes
  18. Spread evenly over crust
  19. Refrigerate until firm
  20. Combine 2 t butter
  21. Corn syrup
  22. And 2 t half&half in 1 qt saucepan
  23. Cook over medium heat
  24. Stirring occasionally
  25. Until mixture comes to a boil
  26. Remove from heat
  27. Stir in chocolate melted
  28. Stir in enough powdered sugar for desired spreading consistency
  29. Spread evenly over filling
  30. Cover
  31. Refrigerate at least 2 hours or until serving time
  32. Store in refrigerator
