this is an old recipe that i found in one of my old cookbooks that someone had added to it. the recipe comes from crystal sugar. it is off of a sugar package.

Steps

  1. Sift together
  2. Flour
  3. Baking powder
  4. Salt and cocoa
  5. Cream together
  6. Butter and sugar
  7. Creaming well
  8. Add beaten egg
  9. To butter mixture
  10. Blend in the flour mixture gradually
  11. Chill 2 hours for easy handling
  12. Place rounded teaspoons of dough
  13. Shaped into balls
  14. Onto greased cookie sheet
  15. Flatten with fork
  16. Blend 1 tablespoon cold water with the reserved egg
  17. Brush lightly over dough
  18. Combine 3 tablespoons almonds chopped fine and 2 tablespoons sugar
  19. Sprinkle over dough
  20. Bake at 400 for 10-12 minutes
  21. Until set but not browned
  22. Cool 1 minute and remove from cookie sheet
  23. Makes 3-4 dozen cookies
