  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Butter an 8-inch
  3. Well-seasoned cast iron skillet
  4. Set aside
  5. Place chocolate and butter in a medium heat-proof bowl
  6. Set over a pan of boiling water and whisk together until almost blended
  7. Remove from heat and let cool
  8. Set aside
  9. Sift togetther the flour
  10. Cocoa
  11. Baking powder
  12. And salt
  13. Sift again and set aside
  14. In another bowl
  15. Beat the eggs and vanilla until thick and pale
  16. About 6 minutes
  17. Beat in the sugar until fluffy
  18. Stir in the chocolate mixture
  19. Fold the dry ingredients gently until just combined
  20. Pour the batter into prepared skillet
  21. Bake until spoon bread is set but still soft in center
  22. About 40 minutes
  23. Let cool 10 minutes serve warm
  24. "dust with confectioners sugar to garnish
  25. If desired"
