a little twist on the traditional boston cream pie. for all you chocolate lovers out there, this one is for you! enjoy!

Steps

  1. Heat oven to 350
  2. Grease and flour 1 9" round baking pan
  3. Stir together flour
  4. Sugar
  5. Cocoa and baking soda in a lg
  6. Bowl
  7. Add butter
  8. Milk
  9. Egg and vanilla
  10. Beat on low speed of mixer until all ingredients are moistened
  11. Beat on med
  12. Speed 2 minutes
  13. Pour batter into prepared pan
  14. Bake 30-35 mins
  15. Or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean
  16. Cool 10 minutes
  17. Remove from pan to wire rack
  18. Cool completely
  19. Prepare chocolate filling
  20. Cut cake into 2 thin layers
  21. Place 1 layer on serving plate
  22. Spread filling over layer
  23. Top with remaining layer
  24. Prepare satiny chocolate glaze
  25. Pour onto top of cake
  26. Allowing some to drizzle down sides
  27. Refrigerate until serving time
  28. Cover
  29. And refrigerate leftover cake
  30. Makes 8 servings
  31. Chocolate filling:
  32. Stir together sugar
  33. Cocoa and cornstarch in medium bowl
  34. Gradually stir in light cream
  35. Cook over medium heat
  36. Stirring constantly
  37. Until mixture thickens and begins to boil
  38. Boil 1 min
  39. Stirring constantly
  40. Remove from heat
  41. Stir in butter and vanilla
  42. Press plastic wrap directly onto surface
  43. Cool completely
  44. Satiny chocolate glaze:
  45. Heat water
  46. Butter and corn syrup in small saucepan to boiling
  47. Remove from heat
  48. And immediately stir in cocoa
  49. With whisk
  50. Gradually beat in confectionary sugar and vanilla until smooth
  51. Cool slightly
