chocolate belton cream pie

Desciption

this is actually a cake--a chocolate version of boston cream pie, i created for our daughter-in-law: sure to please any chocoholic!! so inexpensive and easy to make!! layers of rich chocolaty cake, with chocolate pudding in between, covered entirely in chocolate fudge glaze. delightful, cool way to end a summer meal.

Steps

  1. Cake:
  2. Spray two 9" round or square cake pans with cooking spray
  3. Mix all ingredients together
  4. Pour into cake pans
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
  6. Or till a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
  7. Remove from oven
  8. Allow to cool
  9. Place one layer on cake plate
  10. Spread with pudding
  11. Top with second layer
  12. Pour fudge glaze over the top
  13. Refrigerate till serving time
  14. Pudding:
  15. Place sugar
  16. Flour
  17. Salt
  18. Cocoa in 2 quart saucepan
  19. Whisk till lumps are gone
  20. Add cream
  21. Whisk till well blended
  22. Cook over medium heat till thick and bubbly
  23. Remove from heat
  24. Add vanilla
  25. Stir till well blended
  26. Allow to cool
  27. Spread over first cake layer
  28. Top with second cake layer
  29. Fudge glaze:
  30. In 2 quart saucepan
  31. Melt butter
  32. Add cocoa and cream
  33. Stir well
  34. Cook over medium heat till it bubbles
  35. Remove from heat
  36. Add powdered sugar
  37. Stir till lumps are gone
  38. Pour over top of cake
  39. Spreading to cover all
  40. Allowing it to run down sides
  41. Cover cake
  42. Place in refrigerator till serving time
