  1. Remove and discard the casing from the sausage
  2. Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until the sausage is browned
  3. Stirring to crumble meat
  4. Drain well
  5. And set aside
  6. Saute the onion and garlic in oil in a large dutch oven until tender
  7. Add the reserved sausage and broth
  8. Stir well
  9. Bring to a boil
  10. Stir in the cabbage and next 9 ingredients
  11. Return the mixture to a boil
  12. Cover
  13. Reduce heat
  14. And simmer for 15 minutes
  15. Add macaroni
  16. Simmer
  17. Uncovered for 15 minutes or until the macaroni is tender
  18. Ladle the soup into individual soup bowls
  19. Sprinkle each serving with pamesan cheese
