  1. In a medium bowl
  2. Stir flour
  3. Baking powder
  4. Salt
  5. 1 teaspoon of the cinnamon and nutmeg
  6. Set aside
  7. In a large mixer bowl at medium speed
  8. Beat 1 cup of the sugar and butter until creamy
  9. Add eggs and vanilla
  10. Beat well
  11. At low speed
  12. Beat in flour mixture until well blended
  13. Divide dough into three portions
  14. Cover and chill for 1 hour
  15. In a small bowl
  16. Stir remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and remaining 1 / 2 teaspoon cinnamon
  17. Set aside
  18. Preheat oven to 375
  19. On a lightly floured surface
  20. Roll one portion of dough at a time to about 1 / 4-inch thickness
  21. Dip cutters in flour and cut cookies
  22. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets
  23. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar
  24. Bake for 9 to 12 minutes or until edges are light brown
  25. Cool cookies on wire racks
  26. Store in an airtight container
