  1. Cream shortening and butter at medium speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy
  2. Add 1 cup confectioners sugar and salt
  3. Mix well
  4. Stir in flour
  5. Add water
  6. Vanilla extract and almonds
  7. Stirring well
  8. Shape dough into 1-inch balls
  9. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and flatten
  10. Bake at 325 degrees f for 12 to 15 minutes or until done
  11. "dredge warm cookies in confectioners sugar"
