  1. Sift dry ingredients together
  2. Cut in 2 tablespoons fat
  3. Add grated onion
  4. Add eggs to water and mix thoroughly
  5. Stir into first mixture
  6. Drop by tablespoons into 2 quarts of boiling water to which 1 teaspoon salt has been added
  7. Cook
  8. Uncovered
  9. For 15 minutes
  10. Drain well in colander
  11. Place remaining fat in frying pan
  12. When melted
  13. Add dumplings and cook until golden
