i have grown up eating this. my aunt makes it all the time, and it was grandpa's favorite meal!

  1. Wash cabbage and remove any damaged outer leaves
  2. Cut out core
  3. Bring a large pot of water to boiling
  4. Add cabbage to wilt leaves while preparing stuffing
  5. Turn off heat under cabbage
  6. Mix together potato
  7. Rice
  8. Meats
  9. Onion
  10. The 1 teaspoon salt
  11. Pepper
  12. Allspice
  13. Sugar
  14. And egg
  15. Separate leaves from cabbage as they wilt and drain:
  16. Return cabbage to water to wilt inner leaves
  17. Shape stuffing into oblong patties and place on core end of cabbage leaf
  18. Fold over sides of leaf slightly and roll up
  19. Tucking in sides of leaf if possible
  20. It may be necessary to fasten rolls with toothpicks
  21. If used
  22. They should be removed before placing rolls in baking dish
  23. Mix 3 tablespoons flour and the 1 / 4 teaspoon salt and roll cabbage leaves in mixture
  24. Brown in large skillet
  25. Remove cabbage rolls as they are browned and place in a large
  26. Flat
  27. Greased baking dish
  28. Cover dish with aluminum foil
  29. Heat over to 300 degrees
  30. Bake 1 1 / 2 hours basting frequently with the 2 tablespoons melted butter
  31. Remove baking dish from oven and place cabbage rolls on a warm platter
  32. Mix the 1 tablespoon flour and cream in a small pan
  33. Add the liquid from baking dish: cook and stir over moderately low heat until thickened
  34. Season to taste
  35. Pour gravy over cabbage rolls before serving
