  1. Heat oven to 375f
  2. In bowl
  3. Mix flour
  4. 2 tablespoons sugar and salt
  5. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly
  6. Stir in egg
  7. Form dough into a ball
  8. Cover
  9. Chill for 15 minutes
  10. Divide dough in half
  11. On lightly greased baking sheet
  12. Shape each half into a 10x2- inch rectangle
  13. Make a 1-inch wide indentation down the center length of each rectangle
  14. Fill each with 1 / 2 cup of applesauce
  15. Mix remaining 1 tablespoon sugar
  16. Walnuts and cinnamon
  17. Sprinkle on dough along sides of applesauce filling
  18. Bake 20 minutes
  19. Cool slightly on wire rack
  20. Cut into 1-inch diagonal slices
  21. Cool completely
  22. Store in airtight container
