  1. Preheat oven to 325f
  2. Sift flours
  3. Baking soda and baking powder together
  4. Add salt
  5. Fennel
  6. Anise and cumin
  7. Stir in syrup and buttermilk
  8. Stirring until well blended
  9. Pour into a greased 9" cake pan
  10. Bake 1 hour
  11. Or until top is browned and cake tester comes out clean
  12. Remove from pan
  13. Wrap in a towel
  14. And cool
