this is an easy biscuit recipe that turns out perfectly every time i make them.

Steps

  1. Place oven rack in the top third of the oven
  2. Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  3. In a large bowl
  4. Whisk together flour
  5. Baking powder
  6. Baking soda
  7. And salt
  8. Add shortening and cut in with pastry blender until the mixture is mealy
  9. Gradually add buttermilk
  10. Stirring with a wooden spoon just until the dough is soft and slightly sticky
  11. Do not over mix !
  12. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface
  13. Using a light touch
  14. Turn the edges toward the middle
  15. Pressing with your hands
  16. Press the dough out 1 / 2 inch thick and cut straight down with a 2-inch biscuit cutter
  17. Pat the scraps together and cut out more rounds
  18. Arrange on a baking sheet no more than 1 / 2 inch apart and bake until lightly browned
  19. 12 to 15 minutes
