superb ham and sausage loaf w basting sauce


this is so good you'll want to double the recipe so you can bake one now and freeze the other for another day. the basting "sauce" really enhances the loaf with extra good taste. recipe from local newspaper sunday magazine.

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In large bowl combine meats and breadcrumbs
  3. Mix in eggs
  4. Sour cream
  5. Lemon juice
  6. And the next five spices
  7. Dump mixture into greased 9"x13"x2" pan
  8. Form into loaf shape
  9. Bake
  10. Uncovered
  11. For 45 minutes
  12. Meanwhile
  13. Prepare basting sauce:
  14. Combine brown sugar
  15. Water
  16. Vinegar and pepper in small saucepan and heat to boil then remove from heat
  17. Remove ham loaf from oven
  18. Drain excess fat from pan
  19. Pour sauce over loaf and bake another 15 minutes
  20. Basting occasionally
  21. Also
  22. Make fresh breadcrumbs in processor
