you have two choices here: either refrigerate this as a ganache and use it to make truffles or to frost cakes, or opt to add a couple more ingredients and turn it into a delicious creamy chocolate italian ice cream (aka gelato). enjoy cocktails? try recipe #377198 using the gelato from this recipe. :)

Steps

  1. Place heavy cream
  2. Butter
  3. And sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat
  4. Cook
  5. Whisking constantly
  6. Until just simmering and sugar is dissolved
  7. Remove from heat and add chocolate and vanilla extract
  8. Stir well until smooth and chocolate is melted through
  9. For ganache: let cool
  10. Stirring occasionally
  11. When cooled completely
  12. Refrigerate until needed
  13. You can make truffles by scooping out little melon-sized balls of ganache and roll in coconut
  14. Cocoa powder
  15. Or chopped nuts
  16. To make cake icing
  17. Beat mixture until thick and creamy
  18. To your desired spreading consistency
  19. For gelato: let cool
  20. Stirring occasionally
  21. When cooled to room temperature
  22. Add eggs and milk
  23. Whisking to incorporate
  24. Return to a medium heat and cook
  25. While continuing to stir or gently whisk
  26. Until warmed up again
  27. Remove from heat and let cool
  28. Stirring occasionaly
  29. When cooled to room temperature
  30. Place in a freezer container and freeze for at least 2 hrs before serving
