beignet french toast


this is a french toast recipe that my family has been enjoying for quite some time. it's a fun recipe to be enjoyed especially on a weekend morn. it's considered a special treat when i make these because they are delicious!

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees fahrenheit
  2. Quarter the bread slices diagonally and trim the crusts
  3. Leave the bread to dry overnight
  4. Or spread the slices on a baking sheet and place them in the preheated oven to dry for 5 10 minutes
  5. Do not turn the oven off
  6. Combine the flour
  7. Baking powder
  8. Sugar
  9. And salt in a large bowl
  10. Whisk in the beaten egg
  11. Milk
  12. Melted butter
  13. And vanilla
  14. Heat 2 3 of canola oil in a large saucepan or deep fryer until hot but not smoking
  15. Dip the bread slices in the batter
  16. Coating them completely
  17. Fry them in the hot oil in small batches for about 30 seconds on each side
  18. Until golden
  19. Drain the bread on paper towels and keep the first batches hot by placing them in the oven while you fry the remainder
  20. When you have finished frying all the toast
  21. Serve immediately
  22. Serve with maple syrup
  23. Honey
  24. Or sugar and cinnamon to top the toast
