a cooking light take on british fish & chips - 5 ingredients only. posted for zwt-8-great britain. prep time does not include one hour chill time for fish.

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees f
  2. Combine fish and 1 / 4 cup beer in a medium bowl
  3. Cover and chill for 1 hour
  4. Place potatoes on a jelly-roll pan coated with cooking spray
  5. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon oil
  6. And sprinkle with 1 / 4 teaspoon salt
  7. Toss well
  8. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes or until browned and crisp
  9. Stirring after 10 minutes
  10. Drain fish
  11. Discard liquid
  12. Sprinkle fish with 1 / 4 teaspoon salt
  13. Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cup
  14. Level with a knife
  15. Combine remaining 3 / 4 cup beer
  16. Flour and 1 / 2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper in a medium bowl
  17. Add fish to beer mixture
  18. Tossing gently to coat
  19. Heat remaining 3 tablespoons oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat
  20. Remove fish from bowl
  21. Shaking off excess batter
  22. Add fish to pan
  23. Cook 3 minutes or until browned
  24. Turn fish over
  25. Cook 3 minutes or until done
  26. Sprinkle fish with 1 / 4 teaspoon salt
  27. Serve immediately with chips
