  1. In a large bowl
  2. Cream butter and sugar
  3. Add eggs
  4. One at a time
  5. Beating until creamy
  6. Blend in milk
  7. In another bowl
  8. Mix together flour
  9. Baking powder
  10. Salt and lemon rind
  11. Pour into batter
  12. Stir to moisten
  13. Scrape into greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan
  14. Bake in 350f degree oven for 55 to 60 minutes
  15. Cool in pan for 5 minutes
  16. Remove to rack and while still hot
  17. With a toothpick poke holes all over the top of the loaf
  18. And spoon glaze evenly over
  19. Cool
  20. Glaze: combine lemon juice and sugar in saucepan
  21. Stir and heat till sugar is dissolved
  22. Spoon evenly over top of hot loaf
