there are many versions of ossobuco . this is an easy and really delicious one. serve over rice or orzo. adapted from http://www.colavita.com/recipesarchive/recipe.cfm?id=1406. posted for zwt7.

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375f
  2. Season shanks with salt and pepper
  3. Dust with flour
  4. In a large skillet
  5. Heat olive oil and butter
  6. Brown the shanks
  7. Remove to a large baking dish
  8. Adjust carrots beside the meat
  9. To the skillet
  10. Add the tomatoes
  11. Broth
  12. Wine
  13. Lemon juice
  14. Basil
  15. Cinnamon and garlic powder
  16. Stir together
  17. Scraping up any browned bits on the bottom of the pan
  18. Pour over shanks
  19. Cover the veal shank with aluminum foil and
  20. Bake at 375f for 1 1 / 2 hour or until tender and brown
  21. It was really delicious
  22. We got this meat without bones
  23. And this for the same price !
