this is from "the los angeles times california cookbook" from 1981. they say this is the recipe for coleslaw served at the original pantry, a landmark in downtown los angeles.

  1. Blend together mayonnaise
  2. Sugar
  3. Vinegar
  4. And oil
  5. Add garlic and onion powders
  6. Mustard
  7. Celery salt
  8. Pepper
  9. Lemon juice
  10. Half-and-half
  11. And salt
  12. Stir until smooth
  13. Pour dressing over cabbage in large bowl and toss until cabbage is well coated
