  1. Heat oven to 180c
  2. 350f
  3. Gas mark 4
  4. Grease two baking trays
  5. Cream the butter or margarine with the sugar until very light and fluffy
  6. Beat in the vanilla essence or extract
  7. Stir in the flour and mix well
  8. Roll walnut sized pieces of the mixture into balls and toss in rolled oats or desiccated coconut
  9. Cut each glace cherry into quarters
  10. For quarter for each melting moment
  11. Place on baking trays
  12. Flatten slightly and place a small piece of cherry on each biscuit
  13. Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown but not dark brown
