oreos n cream cake


i saw this recipe recently in family circle. my son loves oreos and anything oreos so i think this will be his birthday cake! can't wait to try it. fresh whipped cream makes this homemade cake extra special.

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Coat two 8-inch round cake pans with nonstick cooking spray and dust with flour
  3. Shake out any excess flour
  4. For cake
  5. In medium size bowl
  6. Mix flour
  7. Cocoa powder
  8. Baking soda
  9. Baking powder and salt together until well blended
  10. Set aside
  11. In large bowl
  12. With mixer on medium speed
  13. Beat butter
  14. Sugar and vanilla for 3 minutes or until light and fluffy
  15. Add eggs
  16. One at a time
  17. Beating well after each addition
  18. On low speed
  19. Beat flour mixture into butter mixture in three additions
  20. Alternating with buttermilk
  21. Beginning and ending with flour
  22. Beat 1 minute
  23. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans
  24. Bake at 350 degrees for about 36 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean
  25. Cool cakes in pans on wire racks for 10 minutes
  26. Turn cakes out onto racks
  27. Let cool completely
  28. For filling
  29. In large bowl
  30. With mixer on medium speed
  31. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth
  32. "gradually add confectioners sugar
  33. Then milk"
  34. Beat for 2 minutes or until light and fluffy
  35. When layers have cooled
  36. Trim off any crowned cake from the tops and discard
  37. Cut each layer in half horizontally with a serrated knife
  38. Place cut layer on a cake stand and top with one-third of filling
  39. Spread evenly over top
  40. Repeat with 2 more cake layers
  41. Place last layer on top
  42. Cut side down
  43. Refrigerate for 20 minutes or until filling is set
  44. For frosting
  45. In large bowl with mixer on high
  46. Beat heavy cream
  47. Sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form
  48. Generously spread whipped cream all over cake
  49. Using the back of a spoon to make swirls and peaks on top
  50. Place chopped cookies in large bowl and carefully hold cake stand over bowl
  51. With cupped hands
  52. Gently press cookie crumbs onto the sides of the cake to cover
  53. Brush excess crumbs off stand before serving
