baked apple french toast


this is something i make for a special breakfast when the whole family has time for a leisurely morning. you can refrigerate it overnight and pop it into the oven in the morning.

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees f
  2. Butter a 13x9 inch baking pan
  3. In a skillet
  4. Melt butter with brown sugar
  5. Add the apples and cook
  6. Stirring for 2 to 3 minutes
  7. Transfer to the baking dish and let cool
  8. Cut cream cheese into cubes and arrange evenly over the apples
  9. Cut the slices of bread in half diagonally and layer over the apples to cover the whole dish
  10. In a large mixing bowl
  11. Beat together eggs
  12. Milk
  13. Vanilla and cinnamon
  14. Pour the egg mixture over the bread
  15. Making sure not to leave any dry spots
  16. Bake for about 40 minutes
  17. Until golden and puffed
