  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees f
  2. Grease baking sheet
  3. Combine flour
  4. Sugar
  5. Baking powder
  6. Pecans
  7. Lemon zest
  8. And salt in mixing bowl
  9. Using pastry blender or fork
  10. Mix in butter until flour resembles coarse crumbs
  11. Beat together eggs and half and half
  12. Fold into dough and knead slightly until just blended
  13. Do not overmix
  14. Divide dough into 4 parts
  15. Gently pat each part into a patty about 1" thick and use a biscuit cutter or floured glass to cut scone shapes
  16. Do the same with the other parts
  17. Be gentle patting the excess dough back together to recycle
  18. If you handle too much
  19. The dough becomes tough
  20. Place scones on greased baking sheet
  21. Sprinkle tops with turbinado sugar
  22. If desired
  23. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until light golden
  24. Serve warm
  25. Or cool on a wire rack
