  1. Place julienned lemon zest in a small bowl
  2. Add whiskey and let soak overnight
  3. The next day
  4. Preheat oven to 350f grease a 9 inch cake pan
  5. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy
  6. Whisk in the eggs
  7. Sift the flour and add to the butter mixture along with the salt
  8. Stir to blend
  9. Fold in the ground almonds
  10. Strain the whiskey
  11. Discarding the zest
  12. And stir the whiskey into the batter
  13. Pour into the prepared pan
  14. And bake about one hour
  15. Until golden brown
  16. And a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
