received this recipe from my mil for pulled pork. it is so good. the lemon flavour really comes through the day after it is made...loved it with pulled pork, think it would be good on any pork or chicken.

Steps

  1. Combine the ketchup
  2. Brown sugar
  3. Lemon zest and juice
  4. Molasses
  5. Worcestershire sauce
  6. Liquid smoke
  7. Mustard
  8. Onion powder and pepper in a non-reactive saucepan and whisk to mix
  9. Gradually bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat and let simmer until thick and flavourful
  10. 8-10 minutes
  11. Taste for seasoning
  12. Adding more lemon juice if necessary
  13. Transfer the sauce to a bowl or clean jars and let cool to room temperature
  14. Refrigerate the sauce
  15. Covered
  16. Until serving time
  17. Let it return to room temperature before using
  18. The sauce can be refrigerated
  19. Covered
  20. For several weeks
  21. Makes about 3 cups
