  1. Preheat oven to 350 f
  2. Spread almonds on a baking sheet and place in oven for 8 to 10 minutes
  3. Or until golden
  4. Remove and set aside
  5. Lightly grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan
  6. Sprinkle 1 / 2 cup of toasted almonds evenly over the bottom of the pan
  7. In a bowl of an electric mixer
  8. Cream butter
  9. Sugar and lemon zest until fluffy
  10. Add flour
  11. Stir just until blended
  12. Add lemon juice and extracts
  13. Stir
  14. Add eggs one at a time
  15. Mixing after each addition
  16. With a rubber spatula
  17. Gently fold in the remaining almonds
  18. Scrape the batter into the bundt pan and bake until cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean
  19. About 1 hour and 10 minutes
  20. While cake is cooking
  21. Prepare syrup: in a saucepan
  22. Slowly heat the sugar
  23. Amaretto and lemon juice
  24. Stirring until the sugar melts
  25. Reserve until ready for use
  26. When the cake is done
  27. Remove from oven
  28. With a cake tester
  29. Poke holes all over the bottom of the cake
  30. Carefully drizzle half the syrup into the holes
  31. Cool the cake in the pan on a rack for 10 minutes
  32. Gently invert the cake onto another rack and remove from pan
  33. Brush top and sides of cake with remaining syrup
  34. Let cake cool completely
