authentic salsa verde served hot


the recipe was given to us by a co-worker of our son. i could just sit and eat the sauce it's so good! it makes a very thick sauce, but you can thin it to your liking. it's not as hot as you think it is (considering the base is jalapeno)

  1. In a medium sized saucepan
  2. Sweat out jalapenos
  3. Garlic and onion
  4. Until soft
  5. Add cilantro
  6. Cook until it is wilted
  7. Add just enough water to cover everything
  8. And simmer about 5 minutes
  9. In the meantime
  10. Cut the tortillas into small pieces
  11. Add the tortilla pieces to the simmering mixture
  12. And allow them to simmer another 2-3 minutes
  13. "transfer to food processor
  14. Or blender and blend until pureed"
  15. Serve hot
